The British artist Akinbode Akinbiyi developed a photo box for the Steirischer Herbst festival which looks like conventional photo boxes that are used to take passport photos. In this box, however, after inserting a coin and a flash, you will receive a printout after a short time that does not show the expected portrait four times, but three photos of the artist and only one portrait of the person/s photographed.

We were entrusted with the construction of this weatherproof photo box. In addition to the outer shell, numerous internal structures were necessary to accommodate the technology such as monitor, camera, flash box, printer and coin slot. The box was painted and equipped with a curtain for privacy protection. Transportation from our workshop to Eisernes Tor was slightly challenging, but fun!
